We look upon it as an opportunity, and we plan to do our part to help Del Norte County realize the potential it has."

Michael Thorpe, formerly the publisher of the Newport News-Times was named as new publisher of the Triplicate. He brought experience in weekly and daily newspapers and also knew the advertising component of newspapers. Babies born on Leap Day can count on years of birthday confusion

It's Lauren Trim's birthday Friday, and she's either 16 or 4, depending on how you look at it. The Tempe teenager is a Leap Day baby, born on Feb. 29, which rolls around only every four years on the Gregorian calendar. Like the majority of Leap Day babies, Lauren celebrates her birthday on the last day of those Februaries with just 28 days. In leap-year circles, people like her are known as "strict Februarians." .

Israel Buries Terror Victims as Hague Begins Hearings

The United States, Britain, the European Union and many Western countries have expressed doubts about the security fence but are joining Israel in shunning the hearings. They oppose the court's involvement, saying it may interfere with peacemaking.

A decision by the court could take several months.

Of the 934 Israelis murdered over the last 41 months, 584 have been killed by Palestinian suicide bombers.

"The anti-terror fence would not have been needed had there been no terrorism against innocent Israelis," said a foreign ministry spokesman. "The anti-terror fence is not a border. The border will be determined by negotiations. The Palestinians will not be cut off from their fields, places of commerce and urban centers."

Israeli officials state that the terrorists target their victims for death.

McCain's CPAC Suck-up

The Gray Princess: Once again the Internet empowers the little guy with a blog to take on entrenched citadels of previously unchecked power! In this case, the little guy is the General Motors Corporation. I'm not saying GM has effectively used its web site to make the NYT letters editors look like self-protective twits of the sort you might expect would wind up editing the New York Times letters section. But I'm not saying they haven't! ... Does NYT Editorial Page Editor Gail Collins really object to the use of the word "rubbish"? She never seemed like the delicate type. Does Thomas Friedman (to whose column GM was objecting) need that kind of insulation? Who checks his mattresses for peas? ... P.S.: It's not as if GM's letter was so devastating, or raised annoying factual claims that demanded a response.

Search Marketers' Wish Lists, Part 2

If you want to share your own wish list, or discuss any of the ones shared here, feel free to join the conversation in the SEW Forums.

Q: What's at the top of your wish list from the search engines this year? What are the most egregious problems they need to address? What would be the most helpful product/feature/service they could offer to help you?

Jody Nimetz, senior organic marketing strategist at Enquiro Search Solutions

The item at the top of my wish list from the search engines this year is a keyword analysis tool that provides some sort of accurate search volume. While Google has said that they will never give out this information, Microsoft has a pretty cool tool with their KSP tool that just might do the trick. An accurate search volume/keyword analysis tool would truly be the most helpful service that they could provide.

Fickle Sydney fans tipped to make Hamdan their man

I really feel like boxing is going to be the winner tomorrow night," Mundine said. "He's going to have his fair share of fans but I am going to have my fair share too."

As for the fight itself, Mundine predicted a tough contest that he said would help prepare him for future fights against the likes of Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik, Jermaine Taylor and, of course, Danny Green.

Asked about the proposed rematch with Green, the WBA light-heavyweight champion, Mundine said: "'I'll take his title. I already whipped him once, I'll spank him again. They may think he's gay. He might be in the Mardi Gras this week because I'm sick of tapping that arse. It's true. I'll tap it again if he wants."

Before then, Mundine must overcome Hamdan and knows he cannot afford to underestimate him.

Kasey Harlos scored 14 points and defending Class 2A state champion Poth earned a return trip to the title game with a 54-42 semifinals victory over Woodville on Friday.

Consecutive 3-pointers by M'Lis Kilgore sparked a 17-4 run over the third and fourth quarters that built a 48-32 lead. Kilgore and Kelsey Titzman each scored 13 points for Poth, with Kilgore hitting four of her team's eight 3-pointers.

Poth lost in the state semifinals three straight times from 2004-2006 before finally breaking through with a double-overtime win last over Winnsboro last season.

Kilgore hit the shot to force the first overtime in the championship game and came up big again Friday with the 3-pointers that broke open a close game with Woodville

Poth led 33-28 when Kilgore was left open on the left wing and swished the shot.
