| Christian jam grew into behemoth
Winter Jam started with a pretty humble goal: The guys in the Christian band NewSong wanted to find a way to get fans to fight through the cold and come to winter concerts. So, they teamed up with another headlining Christian act and hit the road in January 1994. It went so well they did it again, and again, and kept adding more acts. Winter Jam 2008 comes to the World Arena on Sunday night, and the 15th version has grown into a monster. Seven bands will take the stage for whirlwind sets, led by Christian megastars MercyMe (who hit mainstream success with "I Can Only Imagine"). Young Christian stars join them, with the pyrotechnic-fueled rock of Skillet and the sister act BarlowGirl. And new voices get a showcase, such as "American Idol" finalist Mandisa. There are even BMX riders and skaters.
World Road Championships - CM
The 2006 World Road Championships are being held in Salzburg, Austria this year between September 20-25. Split into two disciplines (time trial and road race) across three categories (U23 men, elite women, elite men), the championships will decide six rainbow jerseys in the city of Mozart. Both time trial and road courses look to be challenging enough to decide worthy world champions. Wednesday, September 20 will see the championships kick off with the elite women's and U23 men's time trials. The races start on Schwarzstrasse and finish in Mirabellplatz, with the women's being run over 26.12 km and the U23 men over 39.54 km. The outward leg features two climbs, and takes the riders from 422m up to 575m. The return run is mostly downhill, but heads back into Salzburg via a different route.

Beaverton Lawyer Charged With Cyberstalking
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A respected Beaverton attorney charged with cyberstalking has been accused of sending nude photos of her ex-boyfriend to his boss. Rhonda Antell, 50, was described by neighbors and friends Wednesday as a dedicated mom who served on a committee at Hiteon Elementary School. But court documents described a much different picture of a woman accused of concocting an elaborate scheme to sabotage her ex-boyfriend. Antell, who has lived in her Beaverton home for several years, tried to frame her longtime boyfriend, authorities said. .
Defiant Alexander insists: I won't go
It's time we sacked the lot and voted in people with integrity, who, if some car dealer asked them if they would like £500 or £950, would say no thank you. Also people who had the intelligence to read a policy document and decide whether they had to declare a gift or not.The audacity of not standing down when the whole country can see she's a fraudster. The only thing that holds back the lynch mob is apathy - "they're all charlatans and fraudsters" they cry. .

In response, Cohen read from a list of frequently asked questions that the company provides to its customers, to which he quoted that "Comcast may on a limited basis temporarily delay certain P2P traffic when that traffic has or is projected to have an adverse effect on other customers' use of the service." "I don't think we're restraining the customers from using the service in accordance with the way we're selling it to them," replied Cohen. Commissioners Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein continued to press on Comcast's management policies, calling for tighter rules against overly aggressive network management. "Comcast does not block any Web site, application, or Web protocol, including peer-to-peer services, period," said Cohen. "What we are doing is a limited form of network management objectively based upon an excessive bandwidth-consumptive protocol during limited periods of network congestion." "Consumers need to know if and how network management practices distinguish between different applications, so consumers can configure their own applications and systems properly," said Martin in an introductory speech [PDF].
My Name is Earl : Season Two (DVD)
In order to turn his life around, Earl needs a G.E.D., a job, an apartment and a whole lot of good karma. And, if he can keep his ex-wife out of prison, so much the better! Join Earl and his gang of loveable losers as he continues his wildly offbeat transformation from hood to good in the uproarious and outrageous Season Two of My Name is EarlIts not always politically correct, but its always hilarious! When I read that Jason Lee was going to head up a TV sitcom I really couldnt figure it out. Generally TV is where you start a career or where you finish one out. Hell back in the day the ''Love Boat'' was the vessel that took a star from this world across the river Styx to hades. Over the years many great and still talented stars have taken a leap to TV and some truly awesome shows have come out of the marriage poking more and more holes in the myth that TV is where stars go to die.
Prody suffers head injury
Christine Prody, daughter of Clair Prody, Lakeland Mental Health executive director, and Cathy Bellmore, is being treated for a significant head injury in Miami, Fla., that she sustained in a fall Monday. The Miami Herald reported that Prody was listed in serious condition by Baptist Hospital in Miami. Prody, 32, who has been dating ex-NFL star O.J. Simpson since 1999, hit her head during a fall at a Miami gas station and was hospitalized in intensive care, a police report said. Her father was unavailable for comment. The Miami Herald reported that officers went to the hospital Tuesday to speak with Prody's mother, who in 2001 moved from Edina to Florida. Bellmore told them that her daughter and Simpson recently returned from San Antonio, where they attended a Super Bowl party.
A Look Inside the eHarmony Love Lab
Monica Breeden says she owes her trip down the aisle to eHarmony.com, which claims to be the most successful online dating site. EHarmony has about 19 million single members looking for love, and a national Harris poll found eHarmony's site is responsible for about 44,000 weddings a year and more than 100,000 babies born so far from the site's cybermatchmaking. .
Kemp's road gets a little smoother
Willie Kemp enjoys the home comforts of FedExForum. The shooting background is familiar, the rims have a certain feel and, more often that not, the ball rips through the net when he lets fire on his home floor. On the road, however, the University of Memphis' sophomore guard has had an inexplicable aversion to nylon. .
Team Party Crash: 'Radar' Third Issue Party
Nick Denton saunters up with L.A. blogger Mickey Kaus, who, in his long trench coat, looks like he desperately wants to be somebody's Deep Throat. The men start talking about Michael Kinsley and our eyes glaze over. Once they start serious discussion of whether Stuff magazine was "darker" under Greg Gutfeld's reign, we politely excuse ourselves. Also, we feel a bit weird reporting with Denton standing right there. It's a little like how we imagine it would feel to have our parents watching us have sex -- if Denton had any idea who we were. His hair is real. His love is not. With his love of karaoke and his knack for triple-fisting, we can see why NYT metro hottie Nick Confessore is a hit at these kinds of parties. Krucoff: "Si? Chuck? Let's hug it out." We don't know at what point the party turns into a blogger clusterfuck, but we're pretty sure it's around the time Andrew Krucoff shows up, minus his trusty box of "Save Krucoff" buttons.
Washington Mutual Ends ATM Surcharge in California
(CSRwire) Washington Mutual announced today that it will no longer surcharge at its ATMs in California, effective immediately. Recent legislation banning ATM surcharge fees was struck down in court, but Washington Mutual has responded to a clear demand expressed by consumers. "Inviting noncustomers to use our ATMs surcharge free is another way of showing Californians that we listen to them and price our products and services in a way that makes sense to the market," said Mike Amato, Manager of Washington Mutual's Consumer Financial Center network. "We are a true consumer's bank, and we know that people don't want to be nickel and dimed with fees. This is just one example of our customer-friendly approach to service." Amato explained that offering noncustomers free ATM use is part of an entire package of customer-oriented products and services.
