Liberals request RCMP probe into alleged bribe
If the conservatives are honest about this not happening then they should allow the investigation to clear their name. As stated about the supposed insurance policy is actually a bribe, straight and simple. It is a concept that is not really that hard to grasp now is it. Pelosi: Don't overrule the voters
He now leads 1,133 to 996 in pledged delegates, while Hillary Clinton has a 242-163 edge among super delegates, according to the latest tally by RealClearPolitics. Obama holds the overall edge, 1296-1238. Pelosi had one more stunner in the interview: She said the Florida and Michigan delegates should not be seated if those delegates would decide the nomination. "Well, I don't think that any states that operated outside the rules of the party can be dispositive of who the nominee is. That is to say they can't make the difference because then we would have no rules," she said. Pelosi added, "But I do think that the best outcome for us is if one of the candidates pulls ahead and this issue is disposed of long before we get to the convention. We certainly don't want to ignore Florida and Michigan, but we can't ignore the rules which everyone else played by." For a play-it-safe speaker who's pledged to stay neutral, these are sharp words.
Transcript of Frankie Darcell's interview with the mayor
They're constantly, and I want the public to see this, trying to dismantle me in front of you. And then they used to call this -- I can't say the word, what they called this at the Shrine of the Black Madonna, but I was in church, you know, with my wife, which is beyond the point. It's a whole thing now of say anything -- you just had an experience here. MS. DARCELL: Yeah, I did. I did. We did allow an interview right before -- I don't know, it had to be about 12:00 o'clock, Greg, maybe about 12:00 o'clock, and at 12:05 they were suggesting on the air that we did not give them that access. That was absolutely not the truth. We did give access. And this has been a very overwhelming situation. This is not my interview, but it's been a very overwhelming situation to try to accommodate a number of people.
The songs and the passions are overheated
The MFA is playing an excellent documentary about the avant-garde performance artist Jack Smith. And if you run you might be able to catch Richard Kelly's post-apocalyptic distress signal, "Southland Tales," before it vanishes. Otherwise, there's "Romance & Cigarettes," John Turturro's gonzo musical, which opens today. The movie is actually more than some musical. It feels intensely personal, but Turturro, directing with abandon, uses volume and pulpy craziness to disarm you. How does anybody resist a movie that asks you to believe Elaine Stritch gave birth to James Gandolfini, or that Barbara Sukowa sings in a gospel choir? The songs are hand-me-down forgotten treasures and classics (James Brown's "Hot Pants," Vikki Carr's "It Must Be Him") that play while the actors sing over them.
Vocus thrives with software services
Ever since Vocus Inc. changed its business model to selling software services over the Internet in 1999 -- instead of selling the software -- the Lanham company has been thriving. It had the second-hottest stock in Maryland last year, along with its second full year of profit. Its income rose 126 percent and revenue increased 44 percent, according to numbers released yesterday. And chief executive Rick Rudman said new subscribers doubled last year, as he raised 2008 sales guidance up to $75 million. .
Film Festival Uses File Sharing App To Pick Entrants
While the MPAA continues to insist there's really no legitimate use for file sharing apps, it appears that one film festival has decided that it's a great distribution mechanism for finding new films. The Cinequest film festival is asking filmmakers to submit their movies to a file sharing platform where people can view the films and vote for their favorites. The fan favorites for feature-length and short films will be added to the actual festival. The organizer has a few quotes that suggests he understands that piracy isn't the problem the MPAA makes it out to be: "No artists have ever starved because too many people knew about them." 7 Comments | Leave a Comment.. .

Founders sell HotOrNot
UC Berkeley grads James Hong and Jim Young have sold HotOrNot for a reported $20 million. Hong confirmed TechCrunch's report but not the $20 million figure. The buddies created HotOrNot, which allows users to rate people on a scale of 1 to 10, during the first dotcom wave in 2000, creating a social phenomenon. It reportedly inspired future Web sites, such as YouTube. Since then, the San Francisco site has added other elements, including turning the site into an online dating service and, more recently, developing applications on Facebook. HotOrNot was acquired by the same investors as Avid Life Media, who will create Hot Or Not Media and grow the company. Hong and Young will not be regular contributors to the new company. "Next is just to hang out and help companies I've invested in for a while, then figure things out after a nice long summer vacation," Hong said in an instant messaging conversation.
Rhonda and John Stallone work with community for success
John and Rhonda Stallone have created a wonderful marriage of business and community service in Mountain & River Adventures (MRA) in Kernville. The outdoor adventure company was started by John in 1989, when he decided after spending three summers working as a raft guide that bringing the experience of outdoor recreation to others was what he really wanted to do with his life. “I got locked into the rafting; it gets in your blood when you start doing it," said John. John first came to the Kern River Valley in 1986, when he was a senior at San Diego State University majoring in Industrial Arts and Furniture Design, because a friend encouraged him to participate in a rafting guide school here. He immediately fell in love with the Kern River and its surrounding mountains, and spent the next three summers working as a raft guide and exploring area on foot and mountain bike.
